Samurai Challenge Cutting Edge 
 Students learned the techniques of the samurai sword. Featured guest trainer Swordmaster Shihan Dana Abbott shared his skills in the Japanese arts of drawing, cutting, and more. Shihan Abbot lived and trained in Japan for 14 years and is a Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame member. All were treated to authentic Japanese cuisine, history, language, origami, calligraphy, and a variety of games and drills.
Master Nottingham also introduced the gr oup to Aikido, Kyukoshin Karate, Judo and Sumo. Pictured right, Master Nottingham throws 3rd Dan Anthony Miles.
 Each received a graduation certificate after completing the SAMURAI CHALLENGE. The final challenge tested student's ability to cut, draw, spar, charge a target and extiguish a two candle flames with a sword cut. As a special bonus, participants were also treated to a show of Tamashigiri, or test cutting with a live blade.

Extreme Trail Rider To Bike 6000km in Tibet To Benefit Children
Canadian Dave Achtemichuk will be riding his bike 6000km along some of the highest roads in the world- across Tibet. Some of you may remember our friend Dave from his help as a guide and host in China. He is not only a kung fu dynamo but also a well respected extreme trail rider.  Last year one MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Pay Per View (PPV) had over 1 million buys, far more than for comparable boxing shows. In October, the UFC Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock card pulled in 4.2 million viewers. This is the hottest thing going.
In the male market between ages 18 - 34, UFC's Tito vs. Shamrock outdrew its sporting competition in that time slot. What event did MMA out draw? It was none other than the opening game of Major League Baseball's American League Playoff Series. MMA drew 10% more viewers. That is unprecedented. Considering the first UFC in 1993 pulled in 80,000 PPV buys, which was impressive at the time, MMA is now off the charts.

FITNESS BOOT CAMP!
Thank you in advance for your interest in Joe and Jeremy's Bootcamp. The Fitness Boot Camp will be three days a week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Time frames will have to be early or mid-morning either 6am or 9am. I would like for everyone to try to get into the 9:00am. That means for those who have kids still will have time to drop them off and get to the facility. But it is still up for suggestion. I would like at least 10 people in the class to have the bootcamp atmosphere. But if it is close we will role with it.
Starting Tuesday June 5th. The locations can be at any of the USA Martial Arts Facilities. (Glendale, Scottsdale, Mesa) I think Glendale would be the biggest and is the closest too Joe and I. If we dont have enough people in one facility, I would definetly be up for rotation of the facilities to get more involved. On the other hand I would like to start them at all of the facilities so people have less of a commute.
Training in different atmospheres is better. Their is really no limits to our bootcamps other than the hour time frame alloted. We only do what works. We may go to the pool one day or climb a mountain the next. For all who need a little excitement in their lives Paint ball will be a must. Yes, if any one person refers 4 people they are "in like flynn"

USA Martial Arts Schools of Arizona joined together on September 9th at the Albertson's center at 59th Ave. & 101 in Glendale, Arizona to break boards and bricks for charity. All proceeds will be donated to Childhelp USA, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The mission is to help "Break the Chain of Child Abuse" and have the party of the year.

Master Nottingham Awarded 6th Degree Black Belt by ITMA
Voted in and selected at closed meeting of high ranking Masters
Fresh out of conducting a charity break-a-thon, Master Nottingham recently went on a whirlwind tour of Sandy , Utah and Seattle , Washington to conduct and participate in both testing and training events. From drumming up support for the Break the Chain of Child Abuse Foundation to public speaking engagements, teaching seminars and testing, there was little time for rest.
After conducting two seminars in Utah featuring XMA (Xtreme Martial Arts) and Jeet Kune Do, Master Nottingham traveled with his associate Master Brett Lechtenberg to Master Na’s Black Belt Academy in Seattle.

Korean Eagle Taekwondo Demonstration Team To Perform at USA Martial Arts
The Korean Eagles will land in Arizona as part of their US Tour. As the selected official sister school of the team and their district in Korea , USA Martial Arts will have the opportunity to see the team perform. Plans are to have them do a show for the official Grand Opening of the new Scottsdale Academy . Selected Mastery Leadership Black Belt Team students may have the chance to host and have the team stay at their homes as part of a cultural exchange.

Master Brett Lechtenberg Awarded "Master of the Year" from YUDANJA, The Black Belt Society
The Black Belt Society is an organization comprised exclusively of classically-trained Black Belts. The award for Master of the Year 2006 was presented to Master Brett Lechtenberg for his decades of service to students and his selfless leadership in the Martial Arts industry. His devotion to the betterment of the Martial Arts includes humanitarian efforts and he is the creator behind the national "Break the Chain of Child Abuse" events, which raise money for children of domestic violence and abuse.
Master Nottingham Certified with Kung Fu World Champion and Hollywood Stuntman
 Master Nottingham was certified under the “Wushu Masters” program this July. Wushu Masters was developed by former World Champion Keith Cook Hirabayashi. Mr. Hirabayashi is perhaps best known for his role as the Ninja “Sub Zero” and "Reptile" in the Mortal Kombat video game and movie series. He was also featured in "Beverly Hills Ninja" and other films.
He is a former world champion and one of the few westerners to ever win a major championship in China.
Training ranged from learning forms and fighting application to the sensational butterfly twist kick. The course was specifically in preparation for what Master Nottingham calls, "the most exciting Camp Kick ever!" Plans are to continue practicing Wushu to integrate some elements into the USA Martial Arts curriculum and develop a world-class demo team that can perform both classical and modern Martial Arts in an entertaining way.
USA Martial Arts Executive Team Certify in Executive Protection
The executive management of USA Martial Arts and Nottingham Training Systems, Instructor Roth and Master Nottingham earned certification from one of the most recognized and legitimate security training organization in the world, ASIS.
They were trained by Mr. Robert Oatman, formerly a Secret Service head of security in charge of protecting two presidents and the owner of what is considered one of the leading security management firms in the world. Mr. Oatman is the author of two books on Executive Protection that are widely considered required study for the industry.

Master Nottingham Awarded Martial Arts Ph.D.
The International University of Sports & Martial Arts Sciences granted Master Nottingham an honorary Ph.D. of Philosophy in Martial Arts Science based on life experience, training and contributions to the Martial Arts. This non-academic degree is bestowed upon select individuals for outstanding performance and acheivement in a given field. Prof. Dr. Quoc L. Tran, Ph.D., President, and Dean of the University nominated Master Nottingham for the award.

John Nottingham Platinum Partnership enjoyed a recent VIP tour of Seattle including such sites as the Space Needle, world renowned Pikes Place market (where they are famous for throwing fish) and the memorial site of Bruce and Brandon Lee. Master Nottingham Inducted Hall of Fame
On July 23, 2005, Master John Nottingham was inducted into the International Hall of Fame as "Master of the Year" for 2005. The ceremony was conducted in St. Peters, Missouri, and featured guests from around the world including Finland, India, the Philippines and more.
Master Nottingham's credentials were reviewed by a 10th Degree Grandmaster Black Belt, one of the highest ranks in the world, who personally nominated Master Nottingham based on his notable contributions to Martial Arts.
A tribute and special celebration event featuring a host of special guests is planned following the October 22, 2005 Black Belt Spectacular to be held at Sandra Day O'Connor High School Auditorium in Glendale, AZ. Masters, Grandmasters and special guests will be coming in from all over the country.

USA Martial Arts President Promoted to 6th Degree Black Belt
Master John Nottingham announced his promotion to 6th Degree Black Belt in TaeKwonDo. He did not release news of his promotion to both 5th (1998) and 6th Degree (January 2002) Black Belt until now.
Master Nottingham said, "I am testing for advancement with some other organizations currently as well. I just returned from Utah where I had meetings, training and two days of testing with a Grandmaster and Masters and will be doing more soon." He continued, "It is an honor and weighty responsibility; I will do my best to live up to it. In the traditional systems one was required to be at least 35 years old to reach this level. I feel fortunate and blessed to have earned it a year before that. This is only the beginning for me. " You can read his updated bio at USA-MartialArts.com in the Instructors section.
Now that he has achieved this level, Master Nottingham says he has plans to launch new personal private training programs that will offer topics from weaponry to more advanced instruction. He said he also looks forward to taking a group of students to China in 2006.
